In the wake of major global events and a shifting landscape of heroism, the US government assembles a controversial team of morally ambiguous, powerful individuals, many of whom are former villains or anti-heroes. Recruited by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, this task force is comprised of skilled, albeit often unstable, operatives. They are tasked with undertaking highly sensitive, black-ops missions that traditional heroes might avoid. As they embark on their first dangerous assignment, the team members, including figures like Bucky Barnes, Yelena Belova, and Taskmaster, must grapple with their own troubled pasts, conflicting loyalties, and the ethical lines they are forced to cross, raising questions about what it means to be a hero in a world that increasingly demands results over righteousness.
