Two fallen angels, Loki and Bartleby, eternally banished from Heaven and stuck in Wisconsin, discover a loophole in Catholic dogma that could allow them to re-enter Heaven. However, activating this loophole would negate all existence, destroying the universe in the process. An unlikely group is assembled to stop them: Bethany Sloane, a disillusioned abortion clinic employee who is revealed to be the last living relative of Jesus Christ; two prophets, Jay and Silent Bob; and the Muse, Serendipity. Guided by the Metatron, the voice of God, this ragtag team must race against time to intercept the angels before they can trigger the apocalypse, encountering various divine and demonic entities along the way, while grappling with complex theological questions about faith, sin, and the nature of God.
